Adorable Portland Engagement Session: Pinwheels and Balloons

When we saw this adorable engagement post on Green Wedding Shoes, we couldn’t help but re-post it here. What a fun idea! The whimsical pinwheels made from maps and sheet

music are simply brilliant. The printed red balloons are darling. We absolutely love this concept, the pictures by Sarah Lyne are amazing and the couple is just the cutest.

Photographer Sarah Layne shared the details behind the concept…“Tim proposed to Jillian in 2010 at one of their favorite places, Disneyland in Anaheim. We wanted to capture a similar whimsy and fun feeling with their engagement photos, so Jillian suggested using balloons and pinwheels. But she also wanted to bring in their mutual love of music, and she wanted to be able to use one of the images for

a save the date card for their 2012 Portland, Oregon wedding. After brainstorming some ideas, I proposed making the pinwheels for the session out of sheet music and maps, to represent these aspects of the couple and their upcoming wedding.”

We love the attention to detail down to the tiny pinwheels – as a boutonniere on Tim’s waistcoat and as a pin in Jillian’s hair. The red and white balloons coordinate beautifully with Jillian’s navy dress and Tim’s tie. A

more subtle take on the red, white and blue color scheme.
